Protect your home against the increase in burglaries in Spain

    Tuesday, 8 April, 2014

According to the latest data from Kelisto, 2013 saw the highest level of burglaries since this index began to be measured in 1998.

Málaga is a clear example: during the first half of 2013, 2,612 burglaries were reported, 12.4% more than the same period in 2012 and the highest burglary figure recorded since 1998.

Due to the significant increase in burglaries in Spain, it is necessary to take greater precautions and not scrimp on home security. But it is also essential to have a Household Insurance policy suited to the situation of each home and family. According to Kelisto's report, approximately 10 million homes are "underinsured", which means that although those households have a policy, their home and property are not properly insured. This could be very upsetting in the event of a claim.

It is important, for example, to check the sums insured in your home insurance policy. In part because it is likely that you have bought something new since you took out your policy and its value is not included in your policy's sum insured. But you should also pay special attention to the fact that contents are normally divided between normal furniture, jewellery and valuables and the cover for each one may be limited depending on the product and insurance company.

At Op de Beeck & Worth we have a wide variety of Household Insurance products designed to protect your investments and property. If you have any doubts about your policy or its cover, do not hesitate to contact us. Our teams of experts will advise you and help you find the solution that meets your expectations regarding the insurance's cover and price.
