It is possible that during the contracting process or once you are a customer, doubts may arise as to how to act in certain cases. We will always be at your disposal for whatever you need, but here are the main doubts that we receive most frequently.

Yes, your private health insurance premium will increase with age as you are more likely to make claims.

Home Insurance

As a general rule, the value for which buildings are insured should reflect the full cost of rebuilding the property (excluding the value of the land). The value of the contents insured should reflect the cost of replacing the contents with new ones: our contents calculator will help you to find the correct figure.

There is no single answer to this as each case is potentially different. However, in our experience, community insurance policies often do not cover private plumbing, and the insured amounts are usually too low, which leads to disputes in the event of a claim. In addition, the policy will only cover the "original" home, as it was handed over by the builder. Therefore, any improvements made to the property, such as the installation of security systems, grilles, sun awnings, etc., will NOT be covered by the community policy. Therefore, we advise the client to complement this with the purchase of a first risk building insurance policy for a property of at least €20,000. We would also recommend that you insure the value of the complete reconstruction and accept the possible duplication of cover.

The bank may insist that you take out home insurance and be named as a beneficiary of the policy. We can manage this and take your interests into account in the policy. However, they cannot and should not "force" you to take out the insurance with them. Furthermore, we recommend that you do NOT purchase your cover through the bank, as they do not usually advise their clients in their best interests and usually leave you at their mercy once the policy has been sold. You will then have to deal with the dreaded telephone switchboards in the event of a claim. Added to this is the fact that you can usually get a much better deal with an insurance broker.

Depending on the nature of the claim, we will try to arrange for an expert or professional to visit you to repair the damage within 24 hours of notification of the claim. This is, of course, subject to the presentation of the relevant documentation.

This depends on the type of policy you have. Many of our policies allocate up to 15% of the total amount of the insured contents to cover jewellery, with a limit per item of jewellery of up to €3,000. However, make sure. We strongly recommend that you consult us and send us an inventory of the jewellery you have. Most policies in Spain cover very specific risks in the case of jewellery. This means that jewellery is covered against specific mishaps within your home and that cover outside your home is very limited. In the English-speaking world, however, it is not uncommon for "all risks" cover to exist. We can arrange this if you wish.
