Questions and Answers

Home Insurance

This depends on the type of policy you have. Many of our policies allocate up to 25% of the total sum insured to cover valuables (pieces of art, antiques, carpets, collector's items, etc.), with a limit per item of €6,000. However, to be on the safe side, we recommend that you consult us and send us an inventory of any valuables you may have.

Home Insurance Claims

You should contact the police, report the loss, provide them with a list of the items you are missing and obtain a report. You should then inform Op de Beeck & Worth, who will arrange for a surveyor to visit your home and carry out the necessary repairs to make your home safe again.

This is a difficult question to answer, as it depends very much on what your own attitude is towards the parts and whether your policy has an excess. If the amount of the claim is less than the excess on your policy, then there is little point in making such a claim.

Most of the policies we take out include a 24-hour helpline that will take your call and deal with your claim. They will also arrange for the necessary professional to visit you, whoever it may be, to carry out the necessary repairs or provide assistance. Acting in a timely manner can minimise the impact of the incident and speed up the overall claims process. That is why we recommend that you make use of this service.

You should call our offices. We will let you know if the incident is indeed covered by your policy and how best to proceed.

No, the community policy will generally cover the original building as delivered by the builder together with the community water pipes. This means that the private water pipes (which are, of course, part of the building) are often NOT covered by the community policy. Nor, far from it, will any improvements that may have been made to the property once purchased, such as the installation of security systems, grilles, sun awnings, etc.... And of course, you will need to arrange insurance for your own contents and personal possessions.

Yes, we can offer the possibility of semi-annual or even quarterly premium payments, which will contribute to the liquidity of the fund.

This is a problem faced by many communities and is exacerbated in times of economic hardship, or in those communities where many of the properties have not yet been sold. Among many other advantages, a community legal defence policy will help the community to initiate legal proceedings against debtors.

Most of the communities own a content which includes the furniture of the common areas, fire extinguishers, a porter's lodge, community cleaning, maintenance and landscaping elements, etc. .... These should be valued as new in case of replacement.
